Keith's new dish

We were at Panera Bread a couple of weeks ago, and Jennifer saw a picture of a cheesesteak sandwich that was new on the menu. A few days later, Keith was inspired to buy the ingredients for his own rendition of a philly cheesesteak sandwich. It was such a success that we did it again the next week. We had to show you our over-sized but delicious sandwiches!

We aren't chefs, so this one is pretty easy, but we do love how it tastes!

-Any kind of hoagie bread (french, cuban, etc) cut through the center but left connected on one side
-Swiss cheese (we bought sliced since it was easy to deal with)
-1 Green pepper sliced thin
-1 onion sliced thin
-Steak'Ums (in a box in the freezer section of the grocery store--this is the expensive part of the meal, so be prepared. We used about half a box for one meal for two of us, and the sandwiches were huge!)

In a skillet, heat olive oil. Cook the onion and green pepper until...(until it's done, I don't know!). We drained it by putting paper towels on a plate and letting is soak up the extra juice/grease. In the same skillet, put your steak'ums. No need to break them up ahead of time because they'll do it all on their own. Cook that thoroughly since it's raw meat. Drain the extra fat/grease off of it, too. We put the onions and peppers back in the skillet to heat up right before they go on the sandwich.

On a large plate, lay the bread open. We put the slices of cheese directly on the bread. Then, we put the meat and "veggies." If you're a cheese fan, you can put more cheese on top of that.

We had chips with our first sandwiches, but we decided that there was no need for a side the second time. We'll definitely do this again! One of our favorite parts is that it's all a one-skillet and three plates meal. Two people working makes it not too crazy, too.

Let us know how it goes if you try it.

Oh, one more disclaimer: This meal does not qualify as "healthy"! :)

Hahaha....yes, I knew it wasn't healthy!! lol. Okay, so it was quick and easy and it was good. We just have this awesome philly cheesesteak in mind from a very authentic place in FL. So....I think we both decided that cheesesteaks are just one of the things we will wait and eat out! It was fun to try, though.

Oh, and we'd love for you guys to come visit!
